John O'Connor • Vice President Of Production
John O’Connor has over thirty years of experience in the film business. He is the son of famed “Disney Legend” Arthur Kendall O’Connor, Snow White, Fantasia, etc. As a Producer, his expertise has been in the field of Independent filmmaking. He has Produced, Line Produced and Production Managed Features, MOW’s, TV Series & Specials for a wide range of budgets from directorial debuts like David Twohy’s Grand Tour: Disaster in Time to cult gems like Tony Curtis’ Brittle Glory/Reptile Man.
John was VP of Production for Wild Street Pictures and Noble Entertainment, where he oversaw production and was responsible for preparing budgets, cash flows and schedules for all their pictures. As Vice President of an international bond company, Media Guarantors International, he worked as a film “Doctor” for many years, putting out production fires on location, overseas and in post. He has worked in over 30 countries.
John line produced the series Eye of the Beholder, shooting in Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Italy, the UK and the US. He was Executive in Charge of Production for NBC on 80 Dates Around the World and Line Producer on the series America for Hallmark Entertainment. The series consisted of 120 stories shot throughout the country “one person at a time.” Disney later released this as a feature. Prior to that John produced The Artist’s Journey with the visual effects gurus at Digital Domain, for Paul Allen’s seminal Experience Music Project (EMP) in Seattle.
As Executive in Charge of Production on the series Women of the World, John supervised international schedules, budgets, carnets & cash flows, hired crews and negotiated all foreign deals in 18 countries, while maintaining Canadian Content for the investors throughout a 100-day shooting schedule with multiple crews while shooting women as varied as the Queen of Malaysia and Mother Theresa.
As Vice President of Post Production at Rysher Entertainment, John was responsible for overseeing a department that delivered a stream of features - The Big Night, Private Parts, The Saint, Turbulence, etc. and five prime time TV series including Nash Bridges and Oz in addition to two syndicated series and one weekly strip show, while servicing their extensive library. He was also VP/Sound Director at EFX, one of L.A.’s first fully digital sound facilities (Everest, Blade, Mortal Kombat, etc.) |
