Michele Clark Jenkins • Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs
Michele Clark Jenkins, is an entertainment and business development consultant. Previously, she was Vice President of Programming for the Black Family Channel, responsible for all program acquisitions, legal, sports and news/documentary production, creative affairs, network quality control and scheduling. After the sale of the network, she continued as a consultant to the owners in relaunching the network on broadband.
In her current capacity, her clients include broadband, advanced technology, print publishing, music, multi-media, cable carriage, fine art, faith-based, merchandising, advertising, television networks and motion picture and television production companies, as well as individuals working in those various arenas.
Ms. Jenkins was the founding president and chief operating officer for United Image Entertainment, a Los Angeles based television and motion picture production company (A joint venture between BET and Tim Reid Productions). She began her career at Time, Incorporated, the then parent company of Home Box Office ("HBO") and spent 14 years primarily at HBO in various positions from writer/producer to Director of Business Affairs, responsible for negotiating and managing the contractual, budget and business aspects of HBO's programming, as well as structuring deals. Ms. Jenkins areas of responsibility included original programming, sports, music publishing, film acquisitions, talent, animation, unions, on-air promotion, and ancillary distribution.
Ms. Jenkins is also credited with organizing and creating a licensing & merchandising plan for the Estate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. where she was General Manager responsible for licensing agreements, approving products using Dr. King’s name, likeness & recorded voice, overseeing litigation, and preserving the precious assets of the Estate, such as Dr. King’s numerous copyrights, hand-written documents, and audio tapes. |
